Catalog

The Catalog section is dedicated to managing the product catalog.

Catalog organization

Below we describe how to organize departments and products using criteria that make the store easier for customers to use, reducing information requests and increasing sales.

Tip:

Like any website, a site aimed at selling products and services first requires a clear definition of objectives, market research, and identification of customer types. If your e-business activity is added to an existing business, the mistake you can make is skipping this initial study, assuming that objectives, market, and customer types are surely the same.

Optimal catalog organization cannot be achieved without this initial analysis.

Product presentation

For each product, Open2b lets you enter presentation information:

Department structure

The product catalog is divided into multiple main departments, each of which can contain additional sub-departments up to five levels deep.

Tip:

It is important, like every other aspect of the store, that the department structure is centered on customer needs. Store departments are not for internal use only; they are the tool through which customers search for the products they are most interested in.

A department structure like this makes it easier for customers to find products and therefore increases satisfaction when browsing the catalog, which directly impacts sales.

Using capital letters as the initials of department names is recommended to improve readability. The same style is recommended for product names.

Whatever style you choose, it is important to keep it consistent across all texts. Inconsistent styles in product presentation can appear to customers as a lack of professionalism and attention.
