Keywords for SEO
Keywords can be added to the following elements of a page:
Keywords in the URL
The URL of a page is initially set automatically based on the product name, for product pages, the department name, for department pages, and so on.
When you want greater control over URLs, for example if an SEO consultant suggests setting a URL different from the name for certain products to further improve indexing, you can use Advanced SEO features (included in Open2b Advanced).
With Advanced SEO you can freely edit page URLs either by simply rewriting the URL in the admin or with more advanced tools such as the Advanced SEO Tools app and the APIs.

Note
To freely edit page URLs, Advanced SEO features are required (included in Open2b Advanced).
Warning
For some default pages, such as the home page and the cart, the URL cannot be changed. You also cannot remove the language that may appear at the beginning of page URLs.
- Go to the admin in the product tab (under Texts), department, manufacturer, promotion (under Texts), generic page, or blog article for which you want to edit the URL.
- Click Edit SEO.
- In URL, enter the new URL for the page.
- Click Save.
Once the URL has been changed, for it to appear in search results you need to wait for the page to be read again by search engines. If the old URL is requested, for example because it is still present in search results, Open2b automatically redirects to the new one.
Keywords in the title
The page title is one of the most important elements for SEO because it is the text that customers read in search results.
Customers rely heavily on the title to decide whether your site page is relevant to the search they performed. They decide whether to click to visit the page or move on to the next result or run a new search.
The title should be easy to read, not too long, relevant to the keywords we indexed the page for, and complete with the essential information needed to guide the customer's choice.
The title of a page is initially set by Open2b equal to the product name for product pages, the department name for department pages, and so on. You can later edit the title of a page.

As with all other page content, you must wait for search engines to read the page again for changes to affect indexing and potentially appear in search results.
Keywords in the description
The description, technically also called the meta tag description, is the page description that is often shown in search results under the page title. The description should be simple and clear in describing the page and should contain the keywords you want to index it for.
For product pages the description is initially set by Open2b equal to the product short description.

Keywords in headings
Headings are the texts displayed on the page that act as titles for the various content sections. In the HTML code of the page they are the <h1>, <h2>, <h3> tags and so on.
The <h1> tag is usually present directly in the template HTML code and contains, depending on the page shown, the product name, department name, manufacturer name, promotion name, generic page title, or blog article title.
The other <h2>, <h3> tags, etc., can be used, for example, in product descriptions or generic pages both as headings for the text and for the keywords used to index the page.
Keywords in content
In addition to the title and description of a page, it is important to take care of site content such as the names and descriptions of products, departments, manufacturers, and the content of generic pages and possibly blog articles.
When writing content, you should use the chosen keywords for the page and everything should be precise, relevant, clear, and up to date. In particular you should:
- avoid spelling mistakes
- publish translations in other languages written by human translators
- use language that is clear and simple for customers
- be thorough in product descriptions at least for the most relevant aspects
- if we are the only sellers of a product, be more detailed in descriptions
- attach user manuals to products for download if they can help the purchase decision
Keywords in image text and URLs
For keyword purposes, images are important because the image URL is used to determine SEO relevance of pages and for this reason in Open2b product image URLs always include the product name.
If you also have Advanced SEO features (included in Open2b Advanced) you can enable Paranoid SEO mode to include the product name also in the image alt text (shown before the image is displayed).
