Cart recovery

The cart recovery system encourages customers to complete an order for a cart that did not become an order by sending them an email with the products in the cart and a button to proceed directly to checkout, ready to complete the order.

Customize the email

The cart recovery email can be customized directly in the admin under Settings > Emails > Emails sent to customers > Cart recovery. See the developer site for more details.

Cart recovery emails can be sent manually from the admin for each cart and also automatically.

Send an email manually

Manual sending can be useful, for example, to test proper functioning before enabling automatic sending.

  1. Go to the Sales section.
  2. Go to the Carts subsection.
  3. Select the cart, active or saved, for which you want to send the recovery email.
  4. Click Send Cart Recovery Email. A confirmation window will open with the address to which the email will be sent.
  5. Click OK.

Conditions for sending manual emails

The manual email can be sent for carts that contain at least one product and for which one of the following applies:

Send emails automatically

  1. Go to the Settings section.
  2. Go to the Emails subsection.
  3. Next to Cart recovery, if not enabled, click "Automatically send cart recovery emails to customers" to enable.

Conditions for sending automatic emails

The automatic email is sent for carts for which the recovery email has not yet been sent, that contain at least one product, and for which one of the following applies:

Automatic sending occurs when at least 3 hours and no more than 48 hours have passed since the customer last viewed their cart.

For active carts, sending the recovery email postpones the cart expiration. Therefore, once the email is sent, the customer has at least 7 days to complete the order before the cart expires.
